In August 98 James took a tumble mountain biking...

After getting gravel picked out of me for a few hours, I was finally leaving the hospital when I saw a reflection of myself and realized, "Boy I need a camera!" Wave to the camera!(Which to their credit, grossed out my riding companions Dave and Loreen.) Upon reaching home, my housemate of the time, Nathan, wondered if I was wearing make-up - then realized we needed a camera. So hence the accompanying picture(s) courtesy of another friend's (Curt) camera.

I enjoyed listening to Nathan calling friends up saying something like, "James was in a pretty bad bike wreck. - No he's OK. - Do you have a camera?"

So how did all this happen? Well... Dave, Loreen and I rode to the top of snowball (a local ski slope), had a nice snack and began to come down. It was a nice riding day - no snow or hail (as opposed to two previous excursions that summer.) During the final leg of the trip, Dave was somewhere ahead and Loreen was a little behind me on the access road from the top to the parking lot at the base and I figured I wanted to catch up to Dave.

This is where the story diverges:

James' memory

First thing I remember I'm slowly going down the hill aware I was in some sort of accident. Next thing I remember is Loreen cleaning some gravel off my face in the bath room. Then I'm sitting outside feeling a bit chilled, but the August sun felt good. People were looking at me strangely. I got into my car as a passenger as Dave drove down the hill and I don't remember anything from that half hour drive.

And what actually happened

Story and more pictures will eventually be forthcoming....
Sorry.
