Editor,
The election hasn't been decided yet and I am already sick and tired of the Democratic Party partisans. I wonder if my vote for Democrats in many races was wasted on a bunch of whiners.
If Bush wins and his leadership is half as bad as all these Democratic Chicken Littles are saying, the House and Senate will be controlled by the pro-business (and pro-choice, yes) Democratic Party in two years. Chief Justice Rehnquist may finally retire but Justice Stephens in all likelihood will not in those two years. In other words your beloved Democrats will have control of the Senate to voice their opposition to a Bush nominee. Remember, Bork was stopped and another time Bush Sr. appointed the pro-choice Souter.
If you are going to place blame why not direct it towards all the people who voted for Bush even though it is apparent he will embarrass the United States on the world stage with his lack of knowledge or even curiosity of world events?
Really, blame Gore for changing his persona through the campaign. Blame Gore for not mentioning the billions wasted on treating drug addiction as a criminal instead of a medical problem. Blame him for his pitiful scurrying to the right.
But blame those people who decided to vote their convictions? Blame those who voted for a candidate with tremendous integrity and who has personified fighting for the rights and safety of individuals?
No. I'm proud to have voted for Ralph Nader.
