Hello!
This is a follow-up message to the one I emailed out asking people to call, email and write to various officials regarding the 71 bicyclists arrested and jailed during the DNC.
This letter is to THANK YOU all for your time and work! Our first pre-trial hearing is scheduled for tomorrow morning (Sept. 1). We have been told by all our lawyers that the prosecutor is going to drop all charges against us. Yahoo!! We will know for sure tomorrow by 9am, but we're pretty sure that this is what will happen.
This is wonderful news for us, but does not change the fact that the LAPD feels perfectly free to suppress people's political opinions, nor does it change the abusive conditions inside the LA jail system. So at the same time as I wish to congratulate you all on a job well done (they probably would not have dropped these outrageous charges against us without a strong show of public support), I want to encourage you to continue to take action on causes you believe in. This case has shown that citizens can help to end corruption and help those who have been wronged by our tax-paid institutions. Take heart from a battle won, and move on to the next!
Whether it is political reform, environmental issues, fighting for the rights of the working poor, or any other issue you believe in, I support you and thank you for your efforts.
